SBA recognizes Optomec for its Contributions to the National Economy

Albuquerque, New Mexico, July 30, 2010: The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) recently honored Optomec as a Statewide and Regional Exporter of the Year. The company was selected based on several key areas of accomplishment, including: Increased sales, profits and/or employment because of exporting, creative overseas marketing strategies, and effective solutions to export-related problems. Of particular note, Optomec finished 2009 with more than 100% growth in exports, and more than 60% of total revenue attributed to overseas sales.

Woosley, District Director of the U. S. Small Business Administration’s New Mexico District Office. “The company’s efforts represent real return on investment by the American people in our laboratories and demonstrate the power of the vision company President David Ramahi and his team represent. The New Mexico District of the United States Small Business Administration is proud to be able to acknowledge the contribution Optomec makes to the state and national economies by recognizing this exemplary company as the New Mexico 2010 Small Business Exporter of the Year.”

Optomec has established itself in the global marketplace with system sales to Australia, Belgium, England, France, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore and more. Dave Ramahi, Optomec President/CEO states: “With more than 90% of our product content sourced directly from US-based manufacturers, and more than 60% of our sales shipped to international destinations, Optomec is incredibly proud to be a net exporter, especially in these times when US manufacturing is being challenged on the global stage.”

An award ceremony was sponsored by the SBA, the New Mexico Small Business Development Center Network and the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services. Optomec was nominated by Sandra Necessary, Director of the U. S. Export Assistance/U. S. Department of Commerce. As the New Mexico winner, Optomec competed at the regional level and was selected as the Region VI Small Business Exporter of the Year. Region VI includes the states of Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

Optomec, a privately held supplier of advanced manufacturing systems for the Electronics, Solar and Aerospace markets, now boasts a world-wide installed base of more than 100 customers in over a dozen countries. These customers utilize Optomec’s patented Aerosol Jet Printed Electronics systems and LENS powder-metal fabrication system for the production of a variety of high value end products, including high efficiency Solar Cells, printed Fuel Cells, Displays, and Smart phones. Optomec is also experiencing continued world-wide demand for its LENS systems, used for the fabrication and repair of high performance metal components in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
